GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING
Geotechnical Investigations, identification of problem soils, evaluation of data for foundation design, and systems to improve foundation conditions. This means working with a variety of structures including dams, buildings, bridges, railways, roads, landfills and other waste containment facilities and includes the management of drilling and laboratory testing.

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING
Policy and legislation, public transport studies/strategies/management, transport and traffic planning and management of bus contracts, taxi-related issues and modal integration.

CIVIL AND EARTHWORKS CONTRACTS
Route determination, basic planning, detail design, tender documentation, and tender adjudication, supervision of contracts and preparation of as-built drawings.
Projects include: Roadwork’s, Township Services (Sewer, Water and Storm water Reticulation).

  • Township Development: Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Development
  • Solid Waste and Asset Management: Status quo analysis, feasibility studies, and management strategies

HOUSING
BCSC has been involved with housing developments since inception. They have since been involved as professional engineers or as project managers. Mr P.B. Kunutu is registered as a competent person and structural engineer by the National Housing Home Builders Council.

BCSC has been appointed on several occasions by the NHBRC and developers to:

  • Investigate cause of the observed structural distress on the house
  • Report on correctness of the site soil classification, the foundation solution applied and all other structural components that show evidence of distress.
  • Complete a remedial work specification in the form of a “Schedule of Rates” that may be used to invite tenders from contractors that may be appointed to undertake remedial works.
  • Monitor the remedial works to confirm compliance with the rectification specifications.
